January 2026

Designed and executed a full production system for a weekend retreat, balancing pre-planned vision with real-time adjustments to better serve the room.

Preproduction

I worked closely with the team through a vision and planning day, walking the space and aligning on vision for the environment.

They wanted to make the room feel smaller and more intentional, so we designed a layout using pipe and drape along with a lyric strip to accomplish that look while retaining functionality.

From there, I designed a technical system and provided a quote that fit within their budget while still delivering the quality and flexibility needed to execute well.

Pivot

Midway through Saturday, we felt that leading from a traditional stage wasn’t the right fit for the room or the students we were serving.

Within a few hours, I led a full pivot to an in-the-round setup, moving the band to the floor, reworking lighting positions, rerouting audio, and running a new soundcheck.

This shift allowed the night to feel more natural and engaging, and ultimately led to a powerful night of worship for students, many of whom were experiencing this for the first time.

This project reflects my ability to balance preparation with flexibility – building a clear plan, executing it well, and then adapting when needed to better serve the moment. Whether in planning or in real time, my goal is to create systems and environments that support what’s happening in the room.
