Designed and built a standalone lighting controller from the ground up, developing the hardware, firmware, and assembly process despite having minimal prior experience.
Product Design
I developed a fully standalone lighting controller featuring a custom PCB, touchscreen interface, and metal enclosure.
This required learning and implementing new skills in hardware design, embedded systems, and physical product development.
I also designed the firmware and user experience to create a cohesive and functional product.
Manufacturing
I created a complete assembly guide and parts sourcing process, enabling consistent and repeatable production of each unit.
I personally assembled over 30 units by hand, maintaining strict quality control standards throughout the process.
This ensured that each device was reliable and ready for real-world use.
This project went through two full iterations, with the first version establishing the system and the second refining both the hardware and user experience. Moving from a button-based interface to a touchscreen and improved enclosure allowed for a more intuitive and capable product. This process reflects my approach to building by learning quickly, iterating intentionally, and improving with each version.
